Our story

From a kitchen in Kutaisi to your table in Vancouver

Tamara grew up in Kutaisi, learning khachapuri from her mother and grandmother. In Vancouver she missed real home food, so she started cooking for friends. Friends brought friends. That is how Deda began.

Her daughter Sofiko, 9, is our chief taste-tester. Nothing leaves the kitchen without her 10 out of 10.

We are starting in a commissary kitchen, with no dining room yet. That keeps prices honest and the food close to how it is made at home.

“No scales. Only hands.”Tamara, on every recipe

AITamara and Sofiko are AI-created hosts who tell our story on Instagram and here. The recipes, the cooks and the food are real.

How it works

Three ways to eat at Deda's table

Delivery

Order ahead for a set day. We cook that morning and bring it warm, with reheating notes for the khachapuri.

Catering & supra

Family dinners, birthdays and office lunches. A Georgian supra for 10 or 60, with trays you can put straight on the table.

Pop-ups & tastings

Markets and one-night tastings around the city. The waitlist hears about every date first.

How to eat khinkali

  1. Pick it up by the tailHands only. A fork lets the broth escape.
  2. Bite a small holeSip the hot broth first. Careful, it is hot.
  3. Eat the restBlack pepper on top is how Georgians do it.
  4. Leave the tailPut it on the plate. Tamara counts the tails.
